You can help raise funds to support a local library by raising a glass of rosé this Thursday at The Pursuit Wine Bar (1421 H St. NE). The Pursuit Wine Bar was named Best Wine Bar in DC three years in a row by Washington City Paper and offers four different rose wines —and 45 different wines of all hues —all offered by the glass in both a ground floor bar and laid-back upstairs lounge settings. Every glass of rosé purchased between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. will support the Rosedale Public Library (1701 Gales St. NE).
It’s the first neighborhood fundraiser for the new Rosedale Library Friends group, formed in January 2018 to support the Rosedale Library. The group will bring library swag and information about what they do, how to join and help partner with District of Columbia Public Libraries (DCPL).
The group continues the work of the previous organization, Friends of the Rosedale Library, which was founded in 2013 by Dana Wyckoff. Wyckoff, a writer and dedicated library volunteer with degrees in English and Medieval literature, passed away in October 2017.
The new organization was founded in January by Emily Wagner, a former President of the Mt. Pleasant Library Friends who moved to the neighborhood a few years ago. Wagner also serves on the board of the Federation of Friends, which supports Friends groups in efforts to improve their communities through support of their library branches. “I’m excited to continue supporting DCPL and to contribute more to my local branch,” Wagner said.
The Rosedale Library Friends usually meet on the first Saturday of the month. The next meeting is 10 a.m. Saturday, August 4 at Rosedale Library. Because of the September long weekend, the meeting for that month will take place 10 a.m. Saturday, September 8, also at the library.
Can’t make the meeting until September? Check out the Rosedale Friends Newsletter online. Sign up for information about events and opportunities with Rosedale Library Friends, or follow them on Twitter
