Woman Found Murdered on 12th Street SE [UPDATED]

At about 6:43 p.m. Sunday night, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers found a woman inside a home on the 700 block of 12th Street SE. Although initial reports indicated that the woman had died of blunt-force trauma, MPD announced later that the cause of death was a gunshot wound.

DC Fire and Emergency Services (FEMS) responded, but the victim showed no signs of life and was later transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedent has been identified as 40 year-old Wykeena Ferguson of Southeast DC.
