Arrests Made in Two Violent Robberies

On Sunday, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers announced that arrests had been made in two crimes that took place over the previous week on the Hill.

On Monday April 16, two 13-year-old males from Southeast were arrested for a Robbery (Force and Violence) offense that occurred that same day on the 1700 block of A Street SE.

At approximately 5:02 p.m., one suspect approached a person on the block.  The suspect assaulted the victim and took the victim’s cell phone before running. The suspect then met with another suspect who took the cell phone and tried to hide it.  They were both caught by responding officers.

On Thursday April 19, a 26-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested for a Robbery (Force and Violence) offense that happened March 24 on the 1100 block of 4th Street SW.

At around 3:55 p.m., the suspect assaulted a victim on that block, taking a cell phone before running away.

At 12:43 a.m. Saturday, a man was arrested on the 1500 block of First Street SW on charges of Misdemeanor Sex Abuse.

At 7:40 a.m. Saturday, a man was arrested on the 1500 block of Benning Road NE on charges of Misdemeanor Sex Abust.

At 11:23 a.m. Saturday, a woman was arrested on the 700 block of 13th Street SE on charges of Simple Assault.

 

At 8:45 a.m. Sunday, a man was arrested on the 100 block of G street SW on charges of Simple Assault.

At 2:13 p.m. Sunday, a man was arrested on the 1900 block of Maryland Avenue NE on charges of Threatening to Kidnap or Injure a Person.

At 2:45 p.m. Sunday, two men were arrested on the 1900 block of I Street NE on charges of Possessing a Bb Gun.

At 8:00 p.m. Sunday, a man was arrested on the 1100 block of H Street NE on charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
