Bicycle Officers Arrest Package Thief

The First District Mountain Bike Tac Unit caught a package thief in the area of the 800 block of H Street NE Wednesday afternoon.

Lieutenant Jason Bagshaw reported that on Tuesday, April 3 at approximately 4:26 p.m., Officer Ibrahim of that Tac Unit observed a male carrying several opened packages containing women’s clothing.   Officer Kelly and Officer Brown assisted Officer Ibrahim with conducting an investigation in the course of which they determined that the packages were stolen.

The man was placed under arrest and the packages were returned to their rightful owners.

At 2:16 a.m. Tuesday, there was an assault with a dangerous weapon in a parking lot or garage on the 1600 block of Lyman Place NE.

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
