Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:31 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) First District officers responded to the area of 17th and East Capitol Streets SE for the report of a shooting.
They found an adult male was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his torso.
Lookout is for a black male, 25 years of age and wearing black jacket and blue jeans.
While on the scene, officers confirmed that the victim was actually shot in the area of 17th Street and Benning Road, NE, in the Fifth District.
Between 3:30 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. Thursday, 17th Street was closed in a southbound direction from East Capitol and the 1700 block of East Capitol NE was blocked westbound for the investigation.
